[Regulations for Submission/Application]
Submission Guideline
The purpose of Busan International Short Film Festival is to actively discover and introduce the outstanding short film directed from around the world. We ask for your big supports and attentions.
Organization
The 29th Busan International Short Film Festival (BISFF 2012) is organized by the BISFF Executive Committee.
Festival Dates and Venue
The 29th Busan International Short Film Festival (BISFF 2012) will be held from May 10 to 14, 2012 in the heart of Busan, Korea (Busan Cinema Center).
The contents of the entry
- Films completed after on January 1st 2011
[Official Competition Sections "Panorama 2012"]
1) Short Film Section: films within 30 minutes (films of all genres)
2) Medium-length Film Section: medium-length films (30~60 minutes)
(films of all genres)
3) Extreme-Short Film Section: films of all genres (fiction, documentary, experimental,
animation & films shot by mobile phone)
within 3 minutes
※ Running time of each section is except for ending credits.
※ Films winning prizes or screening before on other Festival can be submitted.
Details of the prize
- First Grand Prize (approximately 8,500 USD with trophy)
- Excellent for best picture (approximately 4,300 USD with trophy)
- Best picture (approximately 2,600 USD with trophy)
※ Other prizes will be noticed afterwards.
※ The amount of each prize could be modified.

2) The documents for submission:
- Entry form: download and complete the Entry form on www.bisff.org
- 2 still cuts from film: attach to the e-mail over 300 dpi jpg file
- 1 photo of a director: attach to the e-mail over 300 dpi jpg file
- 2 DVDs for evaluation: DVDs with English subtitles.
They must be the same version for screening film in Festival.
※ The BISFF will not return DVDs for evaluation.
※ Each entry must include the list of previous festival screenings and awards.
※ Each entry could optionally include poster, press kit, trailer, etc..

4) Due date: January 25th(Wed) ~ March 9th(Fri) 2012
※ If you don't submit your preview films within the due date, the entry will be canceled.
Selection for Official Competition Sections
1) The films for Official Competition Sections will be selected by the festival program
team and the preliminary jury.
2) Directors and producers of selected films must cooperate for the screening in the
festival.
Final Entry Announcement
1) Official notification on April 6th (Fri) 2012 on www.bisff.org and individual notification
as well.
2) The selected films will be presented in Official Competition Sections "Panorama 2012".
Final Entry Submission and Return of Films
1) The screening format should be 35mm film, 16mm film, or Beta(NTSC only), Digi-
Beta(NTSC only), mini-DV, HD, HDV. Unless dialogue is in English, the print or the
video should have English subtitles.
(※ For other screening format, you must contact the BISFF program team:
2) The prints or video of the films selected for final entry have to be on the Busan
International Short film festival office by April 20th (Fri) 2012 (we will not pay
transportation charges).
3) The entry prints will be returned within 4 weeks after closing the Festival according to
the address on your entry form (we will pay transportation charges).
4) In the Busan International Short Film Festival, Safety is our priority while dealing with
films or video tapes. But, while delivering, damages from unexpected accident &
natural disaster are out of our responsibility.
Post-Festival & Copyright
1) Based on the principle, all entries, videotapes and screenings will be the possession of
the BISFF for research, educational purposes, re-screening for the short film's
revitalization, except for commercial purposes. In this case, the BISFF should have
permission from the copyright holder.
2) The BISFF may distribute the films of the official selection through mobile or online
media after the festival, under an extra contract with the copyright holder.
Archive
1) The selected films for Official Competition Sections will be archived as a form of Beta,
Digi-Beta, mini-DV, HD, HDV (copy) with the consent of the copyright holder in order
to be used for post-festival screenings. When the screening format is not a one, the
BISFF can request to send a digital format upon the festival's support of round-way
shipping charge.
2) If the copyright holder doesn't agree, the BISFF won't have the archive of
corresponding film.
3) Through the BISFF Archive Agreement, the copies of all entries, videotapes and
screenings will be the possession of the BISFF for research, educational purposes, re-
screening for the short film's revitalization, except for commercial purposes. In this
case, BISFF will ask for permission from copyright holder.
Agreement
It is assumed that regulations are in force once the copyright holder (film distributors, agents, or producers) submit their signed entry form to the Busan International Short Film Festival.
Etc.
The excerpts from the submitted films could be used for the festival publicity. The total duration of the film excerpts is at within 3 minutes of the film's length for the EPK clips.
